Visit to the Tower of London

Wednesday 19th June 2013

After a long wait, today Gina & I finally got around to visiting the Tower of London. A most interesting as well as historical place.

It was a gloriously hot day, and we had a great time, which we finished off with a meal outside a restaurant in the nearby St. Katherine’s dock.

We definitely recommend the Beefeater tours !

Visit to Blenheim Palace

Tuesday 18th June 2013

Today we visited Blenheim Palace, near Oxford, ancestral home of the Marlborough family.

During the day we had two guided tours of the stateley home, which also included talks and exhibitions on the 1st Duke of Marlborough, and his most famous decendant, Sir Winston Churchill.

A sunny afternoon at Windsor & Eaton

Sunday 26th May 2013

This afternoon we spent a lovely time going for a walk alongside the River Thames, at Windsor & Eaton.

Windsor Castle

We finished off the day with a very nice Windsor Cream Tea. May was not a bad month really, with 2 decent bank holidays – quite a record !

Wisley Garden

Sunday 19th May 2013

On the way home from Wendy & Barry’s party, Gina and I decided to spend the day visiting the nearby world famous Wisley Garden.

Much to our great amazement, the predicted rain never came, so we were able to round off a really great weekend with an unexpected bonus.

Wendy & Barry Ager (40th Wedding Anniversary)

Saturday 18th May 2013

This evening Gina & I attended the 40th “Ruby” wedding anniversary party, being hosted by my cousin Wendy and her husband Barry.

We had a really wonderful time, and it was great to share the occasion with not just our other cousins, but our aunt Jean Kaufman, whom had just celebrated her 88th birthday.

Visit to Henley-on-Thames

Sunday 5th May 2013

This afternoon Gina & I took advantage of some unseasonably sunny bank holiday weather, to go for a long walk & cream tea alonside the river Thames, at Henley.

First we went for a walk to Marsh Lock, then after tea, we crossed over the river and took a look at the preparations for the forthcoming regatta that is held at Henley every summer.

Simon’s belated birthday party

Saturday 4th May 2013

This afternoon we made a small birthday party for my brother Simon, belated, as it was not possible for them all to come over until today.

The weather was fantastic, and after sitting on the sun terrace, we all sat down for tea. A great time was had by one and all.

Spurs 3 – v – Manchester City 1

Sunday 21st April 2013

This afternoon I was invited to watch may favourite football team, Tottenham Hotspur, play at White Hart Lane, where the Spurs beat Manchester City 3 – 1.

Before the game, we were served lunch in the “Captain’s Table” restaurant, and we were given both a pre- and post-match talk by the Spurs’ legendary international goalkeeper, Pat Jennings.

Although going 0-1 down in the first half, we came strongly back in the second, with 3 stunning goals scored in the space of just 7 minutes.

Louise & Laurence Pugh (wedding)

Thursday 4th April 2013

Today were were invited to celebrate the wedding of my cousin Robert’s daughter, Louise Kaufman, to Laurence Pugh.

Despite the falling sleet & freezing temperatures, we all had a wonderful time. Eileen and Robert were the perfect hosts, and the reception was a most enjoyable family occasion.

Mothers’ Day Tea

Sunday 10th March 2013

Today we were joined for afternoon tea by my brother Simon, with his sons Scott & Alex, plus our cousin Susan.

Gina celebrated Mothers’ day by sweeping up after them !

Still, she did get to sit down with Alex and enjoy herself later!
