Today we entertained Sharon, Keith & Katie over at our place for a family get-together style family lunch. The weather was unseasonably mild, so in between the main courses we went for a nice stroll to the nearby park, and saw the local ducks doing more or less the same thing in their small lake.
On Sunday 27th January 2008 we celebrated Scott’s 9th birthday over at our house. The boys are just tucking into some of the birthday cake !

This afternoon we took my brother Simon and our two nephews, Scott & Alex, to visit Santa Claus at Ruislip Lido. First the boys had a great time playing on the frozen beach, and then after some much needed hot chocolate, we all took a short train ride on “Santa’s Express”, where all the children were introduced to Santa, and then rewarded by each receiving an early Christmas present.
Over quite an exciting and extended weekend at the end of in November, Gina and I spent five really enjoyable days in Rome. Though one day was work related, we were able to take in some very memorable sites; from the Vatican museum, Colosseum, Palatine, Circus Maximus, the Pantheon, Trajan’s Column, Forum, Market place, and many others, but far too numerous to mention here. We also spent two wonderful and fun evenings with my work colleagues, who came all the way to Italy, from many countries, as far afield as Canada.
Earlier I found Gina, just outside the Colosseum, demonstrating her skills of swordplay with some Centurion friends of hers !
The weather was pretty good and most of the places we visited were very interesting. Especially seeing the old ruins of Carthage in Tunis, Gaudi’s architecture in Barcelona and the areas around the Port of Marseilles.
Picture below was taken on the Gala Evening, aboard the “Costa Fortuna”.

Went for a well deserved walk after getting through all (well most) of the packing cases, and came across this lovely old Jacobean House and small lake, just a stones throw from where we now live.
